In flats and some houses the water pressure is very poor and you just get dribbles of water. So electric motors make the shower a 'power shower'. In some places they hide it and it is automatic. If you dont get much hot water you either have a thermostat in your room where you can set the heating times, or ask your landlord how to get more hot water.
